Sustainability Heroes Recognised

On Monday we welcomed Cr Drew Wickerson and Cr Donna Kirkland to St Peter’s for a very special announcement… Earlier in the year, we entered the Living Sustainably Schools Calendar Competition with RRC. The great news is we feature in the 2021 calendar for reducing the number of single-use plastics and introducing Nude Food Days! This meant we won $200 to put towards another sustainability project, a bee hotel, some insulated water bottles to distribute as part of the BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle) campaign, and a good selection of books for our library including some teacher resource books. We were so excited to be a part of this project in making a better future for our children and our children’s children. Thanks to Year 4 and the staff for being a driving force behind this very important work!

We also announced that after a recent submission to the council by Mrs Tzoutzias, with the help of Mrs Lever we were awarded a $3000 grant to put towards a recycling project at our school. This money will be used to purchase various bins for sorting our rubbish once the rubbish is sorted it can then be directed to the correct place for disposal or recycling. Our aim is to significantly reduce the amount of general waste wheelie bins used at our school. Thank you RRC we are sure with these funds and plans for education in 2021, our goal is surely achievable!
