St Peter’s School is a community and we believe that success for students at school is linked strongly with a good partnership with parents at home. As part of this connection we encourage all parents to be involved in some way at the school. Many opportunities are presented to parents and we encourage you to embrace them as we ‘Inspire Learning Together.’

WHAT CAN I DO TO SUPPORT THE SCHOOL COMMUNITY?

  • Volunteering in classroom with literacy and numeracy groups

  • Attend excursions as a parent helper

  • Become a sports coach

  • Help out with Food Day

  • Join the Parents & Friends Committee or the Caulfield Cup Committee

  • Speak with the Principal about becoming a Board member

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO VOLUNTEER?

All volunteers must have completed a brief annual induction involving the Volunteers Code of Conduct. This can be completed here.

Blue Cards are strongly recommended (applications can be collected from the office, downloaded from the website or apply online here).

Please ensure you are signing in and out of the office when you are helping at school. It is important that we know who is on the school grounds.

PARENT PARTICIPATION

There are many opportunities for parents to be involved in the activities organised by the school and by classes.  Many classes operate a reading program which relies on parents being available at scheduled times to listen to children's reading.  Sometimes parents are able to share with the classes their own expertise related to their careers or special interests they may have.  The students also enjoy having their parents assist them with sports coaching, art lessons, cooking lessons, etc.

Briefly, some areas for involvement include:

  • Taking a keen interest in your child’s education

  • participation in parent evenings

  • assisting with classroom and outdoor activities

  • coaching sport teams

  • attending P&F meetings

  • attending School Board Annual General Meetings

  • support for and involvement in activities organised by the school community

  • assisting with the St Peter’s Caulfield Cup Race Day, our major fundraiser

Sign-in Policy

St Peter’s School welcomes parent involvement, but it is essential that administration is aware of who is on the school grounds at all times to ensure yours and your children’s safety.  Therefore you MUST sign in and out through administration when visiting.
